Irving "Mike" Adley, III
ASHTABULA – Irving Joseph Adley, III, 72, known to most of his family and friends as "Mike" passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born September 24, 1946 in Cleveland, the son of Francis Adley, Sr. and Doris (Ingersoll) Adley and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1955.
He attended Ashtabula High School and entered the US Coast Guard on March 3, 1964 where he served his country until being honorably discharged.
His time in the Coast Guard strengthened his love for the water and Lake Erie. He worked unloading freighter ships for Columbia Steamship Lines for many years and also worked as truck driver. For a while, he operated his own T-shirt screenprinting business, Mouse and Doubleclick Productions.
A member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Joseph Church, he also belonged to the Conneaut Elks Lodge, The American Legion, The Ashtabula Lighthouse Restoration Society, and the Ashtabula Yacht Club where he enjoyed sailing from and crewed with Bill Bobulsky on his sailboat "Night Music".
Mike was very crafty and was an avid photographer who had numerous pictures he had taken hanging in establishments around Ashtabula. His kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids were his life and he loved attending their various activities.
His survivors include three children, Heidi L (Don) Robinson of Jefferson, Mary E. "Susie" (Charles "Chip") Lozowski of Waterloo, IN, and Bobbi Jo (Kevin) Nummi of Madison; nine grandchildren, Megan, Edward, Molly, and Paige Robinson, Victoria Shaw, Nichole Acierno, Jordyn Weir, and Lillian and Charles "Chaz" Nummi; eight great-grandchildren, Marley Robinson, Kaison Lines, David Robinson, Aiden and Austin Shaw, Noah and Brantley York, and Chase Magda; his longtime companion, Pamela Burnett and her sons, David and Gregory (Courtney) Baker and granddaughter, Corinne; one sister, Lois A. (Paul) Atzemis of Ashtabula; one brother, William (Beverly) Adley of Kingsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Francis, and Lawrence Adley; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Adley; and his parents.
A calling hour will be held from 10-11AM with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace, St. Joseph Church, 3312 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula. Rev. Raymond Thomas, Pastor will preside. He will be buried with his brother Ed at St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #103.
