Obituary of Dorothy Gagat

Dorothy M. Gagat Concord Township- Dorothy Marie Margaret Gagat, 95 joined her beloved husband Stanley on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Dorothy was born on August 26, 1925, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Arthur and Mary (Mizsik) Anderson. Dorothy was a graduate of Ashtabula High School, class of 1943. June 25, 1946, Dorothy married Stanley Walter Gagat, together they celebrated thirty -two years of love and mutual respect before his passing. Dorothy and Stanley enjoyed being life partners in all that they did. They danced many polkas and played many card games with friends and family. Dorothy missed her beloved Stanley and is now happy to be with him for eternity. Dorothy led a very active life, she participated in many bowling leagues in the Ashtabula area; she enjoyed weekend get-a-ways with Stanley. Stanley and Dorothy grew a large garden canning many fruits and vegetables they also shared their harvest with family and friends. Dorothy enjoyed her part – time position at Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; she enjoyed working with the residents. It was not a job, but a labor of love. Dorothy was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. She loved her family and she received great joy by being with them as often as she could. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Judi (Scott) Faidiga of Concord Township; grandchildren, Michelle (Tony)Swearingen, Jennifer Bettilyon, Callene (John) Kovats and Jacquelyn Faidiga; great grandchildren, Kyle, Cameron and Sophie; her sister, Esther Northrup; many, many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved Stanley; her daughter and son-in-law Bonnie (Michael) Bettilyon; her siblings, Eleanor Volpone, Albert Anderson, Harry Anderson, Henry Anderson, Evelyn Welton, Anna Ribo and Arthur Anderson, Jr., her parents. At Dorothy’s request private services were held and she will be laid to rest next to “her” Stanley. Deacon Richard Johnson of Our Lady of Peace Parish presided. If desired, contributions in her name may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish, 3312 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, Ohio, 44004.
