Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice R. Allen, 99, of Jefferson passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born July 4, 1923, in Rock Creek, Ohio the daughter of the late Lloyd V. and Eva (Patch) Clark. A lifelong area resident, Alice devoted her life to her family. She married Arthur W. Allen on November 26, 1946, and together they raised five children and shared many wonderful memories.
Alice was raised on a dairy farm; she carried the hard work and dedication in her blood. She would always say she was a "Left hander, in a right-handed world." She was active with conservative political values and Republican Clubs. She was patriotic and loved the flag and the freedom it stands for. She was a woman with Christian values and loved the Lord Jesus Christ.
Alice had a love for animals, raising horses, collies, and spaniels, and then later in life shared in the effort of rescuing cats and other animals with her daughter Susan. Alice enjoyed music and writing poetry and was a talented classical violin and piano player. She was an education major at Western Reserve University of Cleveland. She enjoyed camping, taking rides to the lake and sharing old stories with her family and friends.
She kept a daily journal of the joyful little things that happened that day. Whether it was little joyful details or the trials that others were facing. She had a caring heart and would help anyone in any way she possibly could whether it was a ride somewhere, babysitting their children, of giving them a warm meal. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and taking part in their activities.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her children, Joel (Gaye) Allen, Thomas (Susan) Allen, Kathleen (Dale) Allen, and James (Bari) Allen; grandchildren; Leeann (Michael) Wofford, James Kull and Jason Kull; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan on June 3, 2022; her husband, Arthur W. Allen; siblings, Connie Jordan and Richard Clark; and her parents.
