Obituary of Connie Jean Schimmelpfennig

Connie Jean Schimmelpfennig, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 26, 2022, in Mentor, Ohio. She was born, August 19, 1943, in Champaign, Illinois the daughter of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Smith) Shoemaker. Connie graduated from Bradley-Bourbonnais High School in Illinois, Class of 1961. After high school, Connie attended a nursing program in Danville, Illinois. Connie enjoyed staying home and raising her children. She provided much needed care and support to her children throughout their lives. Connie was an avid quilter, crafter, and knitter. She found joy in creating blankets and quilts for her grandchildren and family. She gave back to the community creating knitted baby blankets and baby hats that she donated to local hospitals and women's homes. Connie also was a talented artist, she enjoyed drawing using watercolor, paint, and colored pencils. She enjoyed traveling and lived in various cities throughout the US over her lifetime. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dorita (Bob) Bates of Florida, and Rob (Heather) Schimmelpfennig of Kirtland Hills, Ohio; brother, Donald Shoemaker of Florida; sister, Norma (Jack) Wolfgang of Florida; grandchildren, Austin Lynn (Travis) Hannon; Katie Schimmelpfennig; Lauren (Michael) Novak, Ava and Luke Schimmelpfennig; great-grandchildren, Quinn and Jude Novak; and her former husband of 37 years, Bob Schimmelpfennig of Orlando, FL. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 10 AM at All Soul's Cemetery Chapel, 10366 Chardon Rd., Chardon, Ohio 44024, with Connie's cousin, Father Dan Ochs officiating.
