Randolph "Randy" David Caruso, 73, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, November 17th, 2022, at his home.
Randy was born on July 25th, 1949, in Ashtabula. He was the son of the late Thomas Caruso and Grace (Cevera) Caruso. He graduated from Ashtabula High School Class of 1967 and then went on to attend Kent State University for one year until joining the U.S. Army and honorably serving his country from 1968 to 1970.
Until his retirement in 2000, Randy was a firefighter for 30+ years with the Ashtabula City Fire Department. Apart from being a fireman, Randy was also the business owner of West 30th Builders Supply, R&B Builders, and R&B Farms. Randy was extremely versatile and enjoyed many things outside of his work life such as building furniture for his home. He was an extremely professional, hardworking, and driven man. His family says he could never sit still and was always doing something productive. Randy was a huge family man and had an immense amount of love for those close to him. He was his happiest when surrounded by his family.
Randy is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Beverly (Bennett) Caruso. They married in April of 1971 and went on to have 2 children together, Shannon (Rod Schumann) Caruso and David (Amy) Caruso. Randy was also a grandfather of 2, Gabriel Strong and Hunter Caruso. In addition, Randy has 2 sisters Judith (Jerry) Mayfield, and Marie (Jerry) Wittman. He was also an uncle of several nieces and nephews; as well as great nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
