Obituary of Stanley J. Giddings

Saybrook Township - Stanley J. "Stan" Giddings, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on February 19, 1937, in Kingsville, Ohio the son of Lee and Gladys (Scoville) Giddings. Stan graduated from Harbor High School Class of 1955. Stan enjoyed his work as a business owner and often said he never had a day where he didn't want to go in. His gregarious nature endeared him to many at his popular Lake Ave. Sohio Station and later to Giddings and Crowell car care. His generosity, kindness, and charm will be greatly missed. Stan was always there to lend a hand, his time and knowledge to family members, friends, neighbors or strangers. At home, Stan could often be found tending his garden, tinkering in the garage, or simply enjoying the outdoors. A talented cook, he had many specialties including his delicious hot peppers, sauerkraut, and fudge. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Ashtabula Elks Lodge #208 and a former member of the Redbrook Boat Club. Stan will be dearly missed by his dear wife of 64 years, Annette Koski Giddings, whom he married on June 28, 1958; daughter, Erin Giddings; dear nieces and nephews, Nancy (Tom) DeMarco, Andrew (Lynn) Gluvna, Jackie Hambleton, John (Jill) Koski, Tim Koski, Christine Barger and David Edward Koski. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved son, David Jay Giddings; mother and father-in-law, Harland and Lily Koski, whom he cherished dearly; his sisters, Nancy J. (Jeanette) Gluvna and Lela Dickson; and his brother-in-law, David H. Koski. A celebration of life service will be announced in the spring of 2023. Stan will be laid to rest at Saybrook Cemetery.
