Obituary of Mary E. Owens

Mary Elizabeth Owens, 95, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Country Club Retirement Center. She was born March 28, 1927, in Rowlesburg, WV, the daughter of Arthur E. and Tracy Marie (Arnold) Myers and had been an area resident since 1959. A member of the First Community Church of God in Ashtabula, she participated in the Agape School Home Bible studies. She also enjoyed taking organ lessons and had even played the organ at her church on two occasions. An avid gardener, her greatest love in life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Gloria Lowe and James J. Owens; sisters, Edith Goff and Shirley Muir; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Samuel Owens, whom she married March 25, 1944; son, Melvin (Carolyn) Owens; daughter, Karen Geissler; sisters, Freda Morton, Goldie Harper, Virginia Wiles, Ruth Collins; brothers, Arthur E. Myers, Charles F. Myers Richard Myers; and her companion of five years, Harry O. Barnard, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 7PM at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, with Rev. Hal Morgan officiating. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6 PM until the time of services at 7 PM. Burial will be in Red Rock Cemetery in Preston County, WV on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 12PM.
