Charlotte I. “Charlie” Britcher, 81, of Ashtabula, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic due to an unknown heart condition.
Born July 2, 1941, she was a daughter of the late George Donatone and Edith (Farman) Donatone Matriscino. A resident of Ashtabula all her life, Charlie graduated from Edgewood High School in 1959. On June 17, 1967, she married the love of her life, Lewis Joseph Britcher.
Charlie worked at an insurance company for 10 years before starting a family. From then on, she was a dedicated homemaker and devoted her time as a loving wife and mother. Along with her husband, Joe, Charlie was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), Western Reserve Chapter for almost 50 years, and served as their newsletter editor for 30 of those years. They treasured the time spent together going on car tours and riding around in their classic cars meeting many dear friends along their way.
A kind and gentle soul, Charlie was an avid collector of Royal Doulton Bunnykins, and enjoyed crocheting and solving crossword and Sudoku puzzles. Every evening she would watch game shows such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with her sisters.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 55 years, Lewis “Joe” Britcher; her son, Jeffrey Britcher, both of Ashtabula; three sisters, Doris Crudele, Marguerite Whitney, Jean Donatone, all of Ashtabula.
Charlie was preceded in death by her parents.
